We Work Hard For the Money

Summer may not be the finest season for fashion but I look forward to it nonetheless. If only for the hot blaring sun and the hope of sinking my pedicured (and may I add THANN-moisturized) toes into the warm sand of the beach.

One other fabulous benefits of the summer is of course, less layers and layers of clothes. We can finally store away our winter jackets, the bulky sweaters and the numerous scarves and gloves we tote around during the colder months.

As we shed the extra layers of fabric and show more skin, why not think outside the box and play with different summer work wear this year?

While classic suits still remain as no fail outfit of choice, whether it's summer, winter, spring or fall - these alternatives may just be what you need to make summer at work even more fashionable.

Summer work outfit ideas - Banana Republic Summer 2012 Collection

Pretty in Pink

No other colour is more friendly and pretty than pink and with the right combination, it can transform any outfit from drab to something just so darn polished yet adorable.

White Not

Don't store your Little Black Dresses but perhaps you can give them a li'l break this season and go for something white and pristine. Nothing screams summer than a simple, fuss-free sheath in elegant white.

Coral Me Crazy

It may seem like a challenging colour to wear but with the right shade, coral can actually be very flattering for most skin tones. Against porcelain complexion, it's a beautiful accent. With a golden tan, makes your skin glows even more.

Flower Power

Solids and florals are one of the best fashion marriages there is but if you are feeling naughty, not nice, why not try flowers on flowers? You can never have enough. I mean, just look at a garden.

What's your favourite summer work outfit?

I typically like to wear dresses to work for the summer!  I have not been to BR in a while but should do so...I'm seeing quite a few pieces that I like!
