Fashion and Style: Twist and Shout

Work. Career. 9 to 5. Ah, that one certain social convention we are all expected to have by the time we reach a certain age. Earlier in some cultures and in others, if you are lucky, much later or not expected at all.

Yeah, I don't exactly know who belongs to that last category… at least not personally. But there's one thing I do know, there are times I am completely envious of them. So free, so liberated from the confines of grey cubicles and that big bad clock on the wall.

Location shoot: Off Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Canada.
On the background: (R) The Peace Tower, Parliament Hill. (L) National Art Gallery.

Don't get me wrong loves, me loves my job. Honest.

I'll spare you some of the details that may possibly knock the sequins off your frock but it's one pretty cool job. At the end of the day, I can rest easy that I have done my part in doing something good for humanity. Promise.

Outfit details

Blue silk dress - Banana Republic
Weaved leather belt - Banana Republic
Gold wrist watch - Michael Kors, Gift from Sissy
Aviators - Banana Republic, Gift from EM
Studded boots - Steve Madden
Though I have to admit, sometimes, I wish I work from home. Or that I'm freelance or better yet, I have run own company and can do my day job, part-time. Picture this - you get to do exactly what you want, how you want it without having to go through the red tape of getting things processed, approved and sometimes, even completely abandoned. It is not without its challenges of course but at least there is that liberty to pursue your passion, that possibility to live the life you want and make your dreams a reality.

Blue today in honour of Earth Day.
Arm Candy - Bracelet Stacking. Bangles from Gap.

I think we are all on that road to finding our true north and I wholeheartedly support such endeavour. Fortunately, as we grow older, we also turn wiser and we get to know who we are and what we really want in life. And speaking of turning wiser…

Olson Boots - Steve Madden (First time worn but bought from last season)

Guess who's celebrating her birthday in the next couple of days? Stay tuned for a very special post on April 26th guys, you are in for a very special treat!

A HUGE and exciting Birthday Give-away!

Hi !
How are you? I love this piece. I have a hard time sticking to culture traditions. I am not traditional in the least bit. I don't even know exactly what my dream is but, I spend every day getting a step closer to finding my calling. How many people can say that? Well, I know I am blessed and I try not to take advantage of my situation. Your post has renewed my appreciation. Thanks so much for sharing.

Happy belated birthday! I love the bright dress and the boots. You look great!

And I know what you mean about the 9-5 thing. I love my job too, but I hate the monotony of going to work 5 days a week for the rest of your life. I'm just glad my coworkers make the experience less dreadful each day :)
