Golden Fashion at The Golden Globes

"Fashions fade, Style is eternal."

Award season is like the all-star games for bloggers, it's a feast for the senses and it provides for a perfect platform to slice and dice celebrity outfits It's like sports for us as we get to see the live coverage, the play by  play of all the fashion hits and most especially, the more fun fashion misses!

Call me bias but I think the Latinas came and brought it that night. There is something to be said about flawless golden skin, dark hair, fit yet not skinny bodies and just the right gowns to accentuate these gorgeous features. There's a certain kind of je ne sais quoi and fiery attitude with Latin women, it's something foreign, different and very appealing. The same qualities that I find ultimately sexy and I identify with because of my background and hey, I did say, call me biased, yes?

Although the general colour theme of this year's Golden Globes are black and nude, there were several bold colour choices that definitely stood out in the sea of neutrals. The emerald greens, the deep sunny yellows, sapphire blues and fiery reds were  fantastic surprises and bravo to those who decided to take that more colourful road less travelled.

Colombian-born Sofia Vergara in a gorgeous Vera Wang mermaid dress

Yes, we all know black is the perfect choice and it's universally slimming but for Prada's sake, grab the triple chocolate muffin already and skip the golden bran even for day!

Now, let's review the following supporting evidences, shall we?

Paula Patton, Mission Impossible in Kwiat jewelries

Elle McPherson with 'Smile Bag'

Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen

Overall, I think the Golden Globes was a fantastic fashion display except for the very homogenous choice of cut for the dresses. Is the Little Mermaid making a comeback this year? I know Beauty and the Beast was re-released in 3D and it was glorious, I saw it with little, adorable two-year old Erica and did I ever feel nostalgic, yes I did.

Back to GG fashion, perhaps next time, a little less mermaid, a little more Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, Jasmine and heck, maybe even Malificent!

Now, I wish I have an army of stylists, designers, hair stylists, make-up artists, PR, videographers, photographers to make me look stunning like this each time I go to an event. Or the grocery store.

Or do I?

What about you?
Who's your favourite in terms of

I like your picks. In my opinion, Sophia Vergara took over the red carpet. She is just stunning.

Jessica Alba is Maher's celeb crush and I can see why- she looks stunning! I also love Emma Stone's dress (but maybe I'm biased as a fellow pale skinned ginger!) ;) Great review ML- I never get around to watching the award ceremonies so I appreciate blogger recaps!
