Reflections

I used to think I was strong, that I can withstand any and every challenges that come my way but then I realized, these days, that statement is not always true. I always have the loudest laugh in the room and my mother would tell you that you'll know exactly when I'm in the house as it just all of the sudden becomes boisterous and lively.

That's why it always seem to catch people in surprise and ultimately in disbelief when I say, I am not alright, I am not feeling well and that I need some time and space to think... to just sit in silence and reflect. It's as if everyone else is allowed to be sick and have off-days but not me. Ah, the world is but fair, isn't it?

I'm sorry it's a bit of a sad Thursday post here at 20 York Street. I am off sick today and I'm glad I stayed home as work is becoming increasingly challenging. It's not always easy to put on a brave face and putting on a happy face despite all the struggles is exhausting and frankly, it seems a little dishonest. I have need to able to admit it to myself when things get too much, it happens to the best of us, doesn't it?

I wish you all a wonderful Thursday, it is only one day before the weekend after all and it's the 2nd day of December which means two things: we are a lot closer to Christmas and it is my beautiful aunt's birthday today...

Happy, Happy Birthday Tita Eirren!

with lots of love,

ML

Aww no good! I know how you feel- there are just some days that you don't feel 100% and you can't quite put a finger on it. It's exhausting sharing your cheer and sparkle with the world- so take the day all to yourself! x's and o's! Feel better lady! :)

I definitely know what you mean: last night my fiancé and I were talking, and I went from laughing and smiling to crying my eyes out. Today, I'm giving myself a "Mental Health" day.

I am sending a boatload of good thoughts and wishes - it takes so much energy to deal with challenges from the workplace, life, etc (I esp. hear ya on the workplace bit, given I seem to be on a workplace challenge week here) - just give yourself the space and time you need. And don't hesitate to lean on others!

Beautiful photo of you! I hear ya- I took a sickie yesterday (half legitimate seasonal cold & half stressed out and needing zen time!)

Don't worry- there will be lots of laughter at our get-together next week! Take it easy- remember to give yourself me time!

Hey ML, I'm so sorry you're having a rough time. Taking time off is probably a good thing -- a time for rejuvenation and to reconnect with the things that you love and make you happy. Love you and hope things get better :) xoxox J

Sorry you're feeling down. Maybe a nice, long snowed-in weekend will do the trick. Or, get a puppy! Do you have a puppy? If not, get a puppy. It might help! (Can you tell I wish, very desperately, that I had a puppy?)

I know what you mean. Even strength needs a day's rest and time to recuperate. Blogging is half the therapy in itself. Right? :)

Awww babe, I hope you get better soon. I absolutely understand: we all do need time off when we don´t feel good, doesn´t matter for which reason...

I wish you a beautiful relaxing weekend!! Get some warm socks and big cup of tea and up to bed!!

I hope you feel better soon and I hope things at work straighten out. I do know how you feel. I'm very, very outgoing and loud and just like to have fun. BUT I'm also an only child and sometimes, as much as I love a crowd, I need to be by myself. I need some me time to just process everything. Don't feel like you need to apologize for that time. Everyone needs time to just be or to cry or to have a little pity party. I'm convinced it makes you stronger afterwards!

I love the look from the other day with the coat with the fur and the jeans and the black boots. YOu rocked that look and I want to copy it!! I just need the coat!

Thanks for visiting our blog! Come back to see us!

BABE! Oh I SO hear ya!! I think this is especially common for those of us who are HIGH Achievers! WE place high expectations on ourselves, higher than the expectations others place on this. I am in the exact same boat (perhaps we row around together :) and just took a few days off from work to recharge. The trick is to take time for your own sanity and well being BEFORE you hit the wall.. not always easy to do ( I have done it many many times!!)

So glad you are taking some time for yourself and no you dont sound depressed, you sound HUMAN and thats what so great about you is that you share your humanity on your blog, not just trying to be all fancy and perfect. You are real. Thanks for being that. Thats what makes the difference in the world!!! You are awesome!! xoxo sending a big ol Canadian hug your way girlfriend and hope you have a relaxing and peaceful weekend xxooo j

I hear you!! It's especially tough to keep a positive attitue in blog world, when things are not always great at home or at work. But hang in there! Hopefully, the worst of it has passed :) Have a better weekend!

This is such a beautiful and heartfelt post, but the words make me sad. I'm sorry you're feeling so dreary this week. As you know, I know how that feels.

...and it's weird, it's sort of like blogger is trying to tell us something by having us come across each other. It seems we are in the same place and yet despite the sadness, we have such hope for the future. :)

I really hope you feel happier, starting with this weekend. A girl as pretty as you should have no reason to look so sad!

PS. I'm praying for you too. xoxo

I resonate deeply with those words. . when you're strong you're not supposed to be weak. . it's as though it's not allowed or defies gravity.

But one thing I have learned is, in your vulnerability and your acknowledgment of it, do you become even stronger :)

Hope you're feeling better

i know you will fight through this ML! you're strong and will come back from this time stronger than ever. i do agree that we do need to step back from time to time and reflect on things. it's how we grow and learn from our experiences.

wishing you the best, ML!!

Aww hope all the sweet comments you're getting and the day off help heal your woes! I know how you feel. I always get surprised when someone tells me I'm so "bubbly" or "miss perfect" when all I feel is anything but. Everyone is human and we all need a break sometimes!

I hope you are starting to feel better! I understand how you are feeling right now. I am also the type of person who is always smiling and laughing, so when I am suddenly not feeling well sometimes it feels like people don't believe me or something.... Well, we can have bad days too! Glad that you took the time off for yourself to relax and feel better. You deserve it.

I hope you feel better and hopefully the rest will do you good. Looking forward to seeing you back to your warm and bubbly self.

I hope the time off gave you a renewed spirit! I am a therapist and I listen to some of the most horrific stories all day long. I somehow am so closed and quiet about my own pain. Its so weird, but we are similar. No one ever knows or expects me to have a BAD day. I am the vessel for others to deposit woes and tales of despair. So, I empathize with you greatly! Allow yourself to recharge and draw on your strength to move through adversity with GRACE!

Oh my gosh, ate! I hope you feel better. I know exactly what you mean about needing some space and alone time to reflect about life. When I had my down time, I usually just let it all out by crying. Somehow, crying cleanses my soul and I feel a lot better.

Whatever it is that you are going through, ate, you will overcome it. I believe that you just need time to unwind and then before you know it, you are back with that fighting spirit! :)

I'll email you about the question you left at my blog.

HUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mwah!
