Make a Statement

Twenty Yorkers - Stand up and Make a Statement!

Hello Twenty Yorkers! (Cute, yes? It's like New Yorkers but with a blog zip code! Actually, it wasn't me who came up with that brilliant name, my dear friend Pearl did!)These days we are bombarded with enormous amounts of messages, from television, Internet, print media, etc. Most of the time, these messages such as Fashion rules conflict one another. Accesorize, Accesorize vs. Less is more! No white after Labour Day against White is the New Black all-year round! Absolutely no prints mixing vs. The more prints, the merrier!

I say, stand up and make a statement! Make your own fashion rules that applies to your unique individual taste, your personal style, your body type and frankly, your mood of the day! Don't be afraid to challenge these so-called set in stone fashion rules, go ahead and make your own today!

Or in the meantime, make a stand and tell me which of these statement necklaces you like best! The danger of having your hotel within stiletto walking distance across one of the biggest Banana Republic stores in the country is that, well, you tend to go and you tend to shop. And shop I did.

But now that I am back in Montreal again (sorry, I will be a little MIA but I will try my best to visit your blogs tonight, I might even skip a shopping trip for you!), I'm thinking perhaps I should return one or two. What, did you say keep it all? Ah, but I think I may have mention that I hate returns! That is one part of the shopping experience that I like the least but I may have to in this case!

What part of shopping trips do you like the best/the least?

I'm digging the last two necklaces - especially #3 (I'm on a gold kick right now).

I hate making returns too - just seems like a hassle! And another thing I don't like (which is going to sound weird) is trying things on!

Oooh hope you're having fun! I love the last necklace the best!

Shopping trips - I have a love hate relationship with them. If I'm getting great deals I love it, but I really don't enjoy trying stuff on in the dressing room. Sometimes I get home and am not happy anyway.

Oh that is not weird at all Lisa! I'm exactly the same! I really don't like trying things on (like so many of you) so I do have many pieces that I'm thrilled about the fit!

That is why I tend to shop in very few stores, I know the sizes, I pick it off the rack and go!

Ooooh, sparkly! I love it! I like the last one the best but if you can keep them all, you should!

My favorite part of shopping is finding new things that work for me. My least favorite is parting with money to pay for them!

This is a great post. Away with fashion rules, I say! Let's make our own individual ones and not follow anyone else's!

Love these! They totally make a statement. I hate paying when I shop because then the reality of the damage I've done sets in. :)

I like the last one the best - so pretty! Though I can see why you'd keep them all -- you have great taste!

I agree with Lisa above -- I hate trying things on! I like to move fast through my day (I'm a speed walker) and so having to slow down, wait in line for a dressing room and patiently try it all on is sometimes too much. I usually know my size and zip right through there!

oh and by the way, I might be able to find some dudes to go to the speed dating thing, just let me know the info ie when where etc

You must be hitting Ste-Catherines, haha! And from before for some reason my comment never showed about the French (Ouais, je parle OK car j'ai etudie a Concordia. Montreal est ma ville prefere!) For a real statement necklace I love that first one and the 3rd is classic. Not the keenest on the middle but it could work in real life!

I like the middle necklace the best!

When I shop I hate the realization that I am on a budget :(

I absolutely love these...perhaps the top one best!! Girl go get your shop on!! Montreal? Get some poutine, too! Was just home in Alberta and made sure to get my fair share...then you can go walk it off and tone your arms carrying your bags back.

That's the worst part of shopping - having to carry the bags. Gah i'm lazy!

Carrie

I think #1 might be my favourite, and the most versatile (the mixed metals thing is sweet) but #2 means BUSINESS. Yowza!

Annnd the thing I love most about shopping is when you find something that you lay eyes on and go "THAT'S GORGEOUS AND WOULD LOOK AWESOME ON ME!" and the violins in your brain kind of play that Pepe Le Pew Looney Tunes 'falling in love' music, you know?

What sucks is reminding yourself you're on a budget — but even then, you can feel good about yourself because you exercised self-restraint, right?

The absolute WORST is when you put them together: Fall in love with something absolutely flawless, spend too much money on it, and then feel like crap about it, and it totally kills your buzz.

P.S. I've got a giveaway on, yo! Stop by. ;)

Pretty necklaces! I love the first one. My favourite part of shopping trips is finally stumbling upon an item I have been looking for for ages. My least favourite part is when I total up my receipts and feel guilty!

Oh this one's a tough one. I think I'd have to go with the 2nd one...I want one too! BR jewelry is so addictive.

Btw, I bought my Alexander Wang booties on sale at Barneys a few months back. I have a feeling your best bet now would be eBay. I'll keep an eye out for you though. Good luck!

The second one is to die for. And the third. Haha. If you keep only one, though, keep the second. So original and versatile looking.
